This morning, i sent out emails to all our subscribers. Ended up being a bit of a disaster as some of you got an image that didn’t exist! Apologies for that, the problem with the email (sent to ~40 people, thankfully not everyone) was that it was calling the image locally on my machine, rather than calling it from the BeerChief server. Anyway, i conceded defeat and just sent out plain text html emails, but we’ll know for again!
Here was the message we sent out;
Howdy folks!
It’s been a long time coming, but BeerChief.com is FINALLY going in to public BETA testing on July 1st.
What this means is that the site will be fully functional and you can sign up, create profiles and interact etc.. but we want to restrict access to BeerChief.com whilst we perfect it further and get some feedback from you guys.
Feedback is very important to us and for the development of BeerChief. Your opinion COUNTS and we’ll do our best to listen and take your advice on board.
On July 1st, you will receive another email from us which will contain a username and password. This is the only way you’ll be able to access BeerChief.
To find out what’s happening at BeerChief, don’t forget to check out our blog!

Yes, that’s right, we’re launching on July 1st for BETA testing. It’s been a long time coming and we can’t tell you how relieved we are to FINALLY have something to show for months and months of work.
We still have more features and plans in the pipeline, and once we get a bit of feedback on things so far, we can start implementing some new features and ideas.
As you can imagine, we’re pretty much flat out at the minute, but we’ll try to keep you guys up to date on this blog whenever we get the chance

How are you planning on keeping it over 18s?

I’ve been checking beerchief.com for the last several months waiting for the bar to open up.
I signed up for the news letter when i first seen it and you had mentioned that usernames and passwords would be handed to those users, what do i gotta do to get it.
Thanks for the update to…i’ll be here when it first opens.
Cheers
Epic, there’s not alot you can do to prevent under age users from coming into the site.
You could require a credit card but you wont get alot of users that way.
All you can realy do is have members as moderators (security, bouncer etc.)

@ epic, as Jason says, it’s impossible to know what age people are… even in real life, people will find ways to abuse the system… fake id’s, back doors etc..
You’ll have to confirm your date of birth before you can access the site and to sign up, it’s in our terms and conditions you must be over 18 etc… we’ll have no hesitation in banning people from the site if we have proof anyone is under 18. Even if we ’suspect’ someone is underage without any proof, we’ll still reserve the right to suspend an account.
@ jason we’ll be sending out emails tomorrow with more details. We’ll also update this blog on exactly how to get in etc… check back tomorrow (1st July) for more details.
